A Network Systems Analyst is responsible for providing technical and operational support for The Solutions Group. The analyst must be cognizant of network requirements and be able to identify appropriate technologies and make intelligent hardware and software decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor client servers-Active Directory and Exchange environments-to ensure proper levels of service and support.

  • Ensure network services are optimally designed, configured and supported to achieve high availability and functionality. Participate in or lead projects to improve network services and develop procedures to support newly implemented technologies.

  • Assure technical compatibility between network technologies as well as application platforms and server/workstation products, especially in areas that directly affect virus protection, firewalls and backup.

  • Analyze system capacity and utilization and take corrective action when necessary. Monitor e-mail and provide weekly performance reports.

  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution as needed. Proactively check for potential system failures/problems.

  • Appear professional and communicate technical concepts in simple terms.

  • Be able to work after hours and on weekends.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • At least three years' IT experience in the desktop/PC/networking area (MCSE preferred).

  • Working knowledge of Macintosh operating system.

  • Solid understanding of desktop Windows platforms (98, 2000 and XP) and client applications.

  • Solid technical skills in network hardware and software. Good understanding of LAN/WAN networking and routing, including SMTP mail routing.

Technical Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with administration and support on Windows NT/2000 platform. Experience with Exchange Server and Veritas backup.

  • High-level experience with PC component-level installation, configuration and troubleshooting memory, hard drives, CD-ROM, boards, etc.

  • WIN 2000/XP, MS Office, IE, 2000 server, Citrix Metaframe, Mac. Experience writing scripts for unattended installs and one-click installs.

  • Understanding of LAN topology, protocols, routers, hubs, switches and firewalls. Knowledge of TCP/IP, FTP, NFS, DNS and DHCP/BOOTP.

  • Remote access and dial-up networking VPN.
